fifteen to one with britt collinson of britt Design
The designer tells of her love of Elvis, her Robbie infatuation, and what she would do with "panties".
1. Name three fantasy dinner guests, alive or dead
Robbie Williams, for all the obvious reasons if you get the Robbie thing. Marilyn Monroe as she epitomised beauty and glamour and she also seemed so genuine, and Mike Myers for his quick wit and his playfulness - he seems quite wise too.
2. What would you do if you were invisible for a day?
I'd freak men out and play with their remote controls, which they're always so possessive about!
3. Who or what would you put in Room 101?
If I could only put one thing in, it would have to be the word "panties", which makes me cringe!
4. What's your greatest fear?
I know it seems like a waste as I live in Sydney, but my greatest fear is deep sea diving. This is brought on by a recurring dream I have of being trapped in an underground city!
5. What was the first record you bought?
Elvis Presley’s Wooden Heart. I was 11 years old and remember buying it when I was still living in Portsmouth and feeling very grown up.
6. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
My vocal cords, as I'd love to be able to sing. My mum has a lovely voice and, whenever she sings, I always find it so comforting and fun.
7. Who's your pin-up?
Robbie Williams. I’ve had a tiny picture of him above my bed for eight years. Some might think that's a bit strange, but I just think it's harmless and funny. I just can't bring myself to take it down. My previous boyfriends never fully understood my infatuation as much as I'd have liked them to!
8. What's in your fridge?
Chocolate, cheese and lots of salad dressings. I always have plenty of soda water and fresh limes, which are so refreshing.
9. If you had to sing karaoke, what song would you sing?
One by U2. I adore karaoke and love it most when people try to sing when they can't!
10. What's your most prized possession?
A plain silver ring band that has been on my finger since I was 13. It was a gift from my parents and I feel so unsettled whenever I don't have it on.
11. What's your best childhood memory?
Winning a netball award at school. I really didn't see it coming and was so surprised when it was announced. I had to go up onto the stage to collect the award- the whole school, including the teachers, were all laughing at me though. I expect it had to do with the look of shock on my face!
12. What fashion item from the past would you like to experience a comeback?
60s fashion. I love the jewellery, wigs and huge fake eyelashes. Very glam!
13. If I wasn't doing this I'd be...
A set designer for music videos.
14. What's the worst present you have ever had?
There have been many, but once my ex left it up to his mother to buy me a Christmas present on his behalf and she bought me the most old-fashioned nightie imaginable. Even he laughed out loud when I opened it!
15. Do you have any regrets?
Bumping into Robbie Williams and freezing up! I was so awe-struck and I couldn't get a word out. All I could manage was "Hi Robbie" in a high-pitched voice that wasn't too dissimilar to a munchkin - very attractive!
